Recipe of the Week 6:
Homemade Applesauce

This time of year really inspires me to make all kinds of yummy treats with apples. This week I made a batch of my homemade applesauce. You can use any type of apple, I have been in love with Honeycrisp, so that's what I used. I added a few drops of Cinnamon Essential oil, and some Blue Agave syrup. Try it and tell me what you think. I even eat it warm.
  • Peel, core, and cube 4 apples
  • Place them in a saucepan
  • Add just enough water to cover the apples
  • Boil for approx 20 minutes, or until the apples are soft
  • Cool slightly, and pour off most of the water
  • Use a food mill to puree the apples. You can leave it coarse, or puree it completely in a blender or food processor if you prefer
  • Add 2-3 drops of Cinnamon Essential oil
  • Add 4 Tablespoons of Blue Agave syrup
Serve warm or chill in the refrigerator for a few hours if you like. It will last for a few days in the refrigerator if you keep it covered. I like to make cinnamon rolls or muffins to eat with it. It is such a nice fall treat.
